Plateau United and Mighty Jets Open NPFL Invitational With 1-0 Wins

Plateau United began the 2026 NPFL Super Six Invitational Tournament with a 1-0 win over last season’s league runners-up, Rivers United. Jubril Ibrahim scored the only goal in the 29th minute. Mighty Jets also claimed a 1-0 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors. Usman Meyanga capitalised on a goalkeeping error to score in the 56th minute. The tournament continues on Thursday as Katsina United face El-Kanemi Warriors, while reigning NPFL champions Rangers take on Rivers United. The competition is helping Nigeria’s CAF inter-club representatives prepare for their preliminary-round matches.
