Engaged, Diagnosed, and Married: Our Journey Through Cancer
Femi and I were set to marry in October 2025 after years of saving for our dream wedding. Months before the big day, a blocked nostril and ear pain in Femi led to a shocking cancer diagnosis. We flew to Cape Town for aggressive chemotherapy and seven weeks of daily radiation. Every morning began with a 5 a.m. wake-up for a 7 a.m. appointment. Tobi researched treatments, surprised Femi with comforts during chemo, and stayed calm when our families urged us to return home. Faith, family prayers, and small victories kept us going. Every clear scan felt like a win. Femi fought hunger pain without a feeding tube, and we celebrated the first time he ate solid food again. When treatment ended, we shifted back to wedding planning and chose Valentine’s Day to say our vows. Today, we run the DavKings foundation to offer hope and support to others on the cancer journey.
