EFCC Under Fire: Lawyers Petition UN, EU and US Bodies Over Alleged Rights Violations in Abuja Property Dispute

In a coordinated move, Mrs. Rebecca Omokamo Godwin-Isaac’s lawyers have filed petitions with the UN, EU, US Embassy in Abuja, the UK High Commission and the Canadian High Commission. They accuse the EFCC of violating her fundamental rights during an ongoing property dispute. The petitions state that EFCC operatives seized her residence in Guzape, Abuja on June 29, 2026 without a valid court order. They allege water, electricity and cooking gas were disconnected while family and workers faced restricted access. Rebecca’s legal team argues the interim forfeiture order relied upon by the EFCC expired after 14 days. They cite a Federal High Court order directing the status quo ante bellum, and warn of life-threatening hardship after a worker reportedly collapsed from lack of food and water. The lawyers are calling for immediate restoration of utilities, unrestricted family and legal visits, an independent humanitarian assessment, and full compliance with the court order. They stress the property dispute must be resolved by Nigerian courts without risking lives or human dignity.
