NAF and PCRC Expose Rivers State Pupils to Aviation on Children’s Day
Over 38 government, community and private schools in Rivers State joined the Children’s Day celebration at the NAF Base in Port Harcourt on May 27, 2026. The Police Community Relations Committee and the Nigerian Air Force organised base tours, lectures, drama performances, quiz sessions and child safety talks under the theme “Inspiring Dreams, Building Futures.” The PCRC chairman explained that exposing pupils to real aviation operations aims to broaden their horizons, inspire positive career choices and steer them away from social vices. Children had the chance to inspect helicopters used in counterinsurgency and learn about aeronautical engineering and pilot training. Representatives of the 115 Special Operations Group described the collaboration as the first formal Children’s Day partnership between PCRC and the NAF in Rivers State. Lectures and performances by the Rivers International Film Festival team highlighted creativity, discipline and leadership skills. Teachers, parents and security personnel cheered as the children were encouraged to dream big and consider futures in aviation and other STEM fields.
