Ganduje’s Kano Warning: Obi–Kwankwaso Ticket ‘Dead on Arrival’
In Nigerian politics, defections often reveal the real direction of support. Recently in Kano, former governor Abdullahi Ganduje publicly dismissed the Obi–Kwankwaso ticket as “dead on arrival” in the region. Within days, the APC national chairman held a private meeting with Senator Rufai Hanga, a Kwankwasiyya stalwart. Hanga says he has lost faith in his party after being bypassed for key nominations. His move marks a major shift in Kano’s political balance. These back-to-back developments suggest the North may have already made its choice for the 2027 election. Obi and Kwankwaso risk reaching January still debating support while the region’s decision is already settled.
