Nollywood icon Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has taken to social media to thank the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, for watching her new film, A Mother’s Love, at the Delborough Cinema. In a heartfelt post, she shared video clips of the monarch, his wives, and actor Olumide Oworu enjoying the movie. Omotola described the film as more than entertainment—calling it a cultural experience—and invited fans to catch it in cinemas nationwide. She also touched on recent moments that sparked discussion: a fan encounter where she politely refused to be filmed, and an incident at the Miss Nigeria dinner where an interviewer’s question about her identity led her to walk out. Fellow actress Rita Dominic later issued an apology on Omotola’s behalf. Omotola has been vocal about the need for Nollywood growth. Last year she compared Nigerian film structures to Hollywood, noting her own challenges with residuals after three decades in the industry.

It's interesting how the Ooni's appearance might boost the film's visibility without any mention of critical reception so far.

Royal attendance is welcome, but celebrity endorsements often distract from judging a movie on its own narrative strengths.
