Pep Guardiola will move into a global ambassador role after a record ten years at Manchester City. As he prepares for his final home game against Aston Villa, he gave one last instruction to the club’s hierarchy. He said: “It doesn’t work to copy and paste in this kind of job. You have to be unique, natural and yourself, and the new manager will be himself. The moment it starts to be a copy for another one… Everyone is everyone.” Reports link former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca to the job. Although he once served as Guardiola’s assistant, Maresca has shown a more pragmatic, defensively minded style during his spell at Stamford Bridge.
