Aaron Carter’s Mother Loses Estate Battle Against His Ex-Fiancée

Aaron Carter’s Mother Loses Estate Battle Against His Ex-Fiancée

A Los Angeles judge has dismissed Jane Schenck’s attempt to block the estate of her late son, pop star Aaron Carter. The court found the estate insolvent and ordered its remaining assets to go to Melanie Martin, Carter’s ex-fiancée. Schenck claimed the trustee undervalued Aaron Carter’s royalties and accused Martin of withdrawing over ₦24,000 (USD 24,530) from his accounts. She also acknowledged Martin’s devotion to her grandson and said she never intended to harm Martin legally. Martin responded that Carter transferred his LOVE brand to her and that they shared joint accounts. Aaron Carter passed away on November 5, 2022, and disputes over his estate have continued since.

I'm not sure Melanie Martin should inherit everything when the estate is deemed insolvent—it still seems like Jane Schenck's concerns deserve more weight.

Estates can be costly to settle; regardless of the outcome, families might consult multiple appraisers to prevent undervaluation disputes in similar cases.
