INEC Clarifies Neutrality, Denies Reposting Tinubu Aide’s Message

INEC Clarifies Neutrality, Denies Reposting Tinubu Aide’s Message

The Independent National Electoral Commission has denied copying its press statement from any third party. It says any circulation of its statement outside official channels was done without its coordination. INEC calls a report by a national news outlet claiming it reposted a message from a presidential aide misleading and false. The Commission says it only amplified its own statement to ensure Nigerians receive accurate information. INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan does not own or operate any account on X. The Commission is working with security agencies to track fake accounts and will prosecute those behind this misinformation under the Cybercrimes Act.
