Speeding Gas Tanker Catches Fire at Ikotun Bus Stop, Lagos
A gas tanker speeding along Abaranje Road in Ikotun, Lagos, hit a road bump at Ola Farm Bus Stop on Thursday. The impact burst a tyre and ignited a blaze that engulfed the vehicle. Teams from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and the State Fire and Rescue Service arrived swiftly. They contained the fire before it spread to nearby buildings and road users. Traffic and security were managed by the Federal Road Safety Corps, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, and officers from the Ikotun Police Division. Heavy-duty crews are still removing the damaged tanker to restore normal traffic flow. The agency’s Permanent Secretary reminded motorists to observe speed limits, especially near bumps and residential areas. He also urged residents to report emergencies via the state’s toll-free lines for rapid response.
