Fully Funded Scholarships and Paid Internships Open to Nigerians in August 2026

August brings several scholarship and internship opportunities for Nigerians and other African applicants. Options include fully funded postgraduate study, paid internships and free AI courses to strengthen your CV. The list includes the Schwarzman Scholars programme for a one-year Master’s in Global Affairs at Tsinghua University, the Commonwealth PhD Scholarship in the UK, the DAAD EPOS Master’s Scholarship in Germany, and the African Union Mwalimu Nyerere Scholarship. The Schwarzman Scholars application closes on September 9, 2026. Also available are paid internship opportunities with the African Development Bank and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization. Applicants should confirm the eligibility requirements and deadlines for each programme before applying. Do not rely on just one application. Apply for several opportunities that genuinely fit your profile, prepare your statement of purpose early and contact referees before deadlines approach. Questions are welcome in the comments.

Which of these options looks most useful for someone building a postgraduate application versus someone mainly seeking paid internship experience?

I agree, separating the scholarship-focused options from the paid internship opportunities would make decisions much easier.

It is encouraging to see scholarships, paid internships, and free AI courses mentioned together, since applicants may be at different stages of building their CVs.

A long opportunity list is useful, but fully funded and paid should still be checked carefully against each programme's own eligibility and application terms.
