Why Has Namdas Not Received His BCDA Appointment Letter?

The Presidency announced Abdulrazaq Namdas as Executive Secretary of the Border Communities Development Agency on June 26, saying the appointment took immediate effect. Yet weeks later, Namdas reportedly had not received his appointment letter from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, even as other appointees named on the same day collected theirs. The controversy deepened when Dr Dakorinama Alabo George, who had resigned to pursue the Rivers APC governorship ticket, reportedly returned to the agency and continued to perform public duties. Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga reportedly maintained that the President had not reversed Namdas’ appointment and that the formal letter should come from the SGF’s office. If Namdas remains the lawful appointee, why has his letter been withheld and why is his predecessor still acting as head of the agency? A resignation or replacement from public office should not be reversed informally. The SGF’s office and the Presidency need to clarify BCDA’s leadership and prevent the impression that presidential directives can be ignored.
