Counting in Naira Means Poverty, Pastor Adefarasin Warns: “Nigeria Is Dead”
Pastor Paul Adefarasin warned that Nigeria’s economy has reached a breaking point. He argued that counting in Naira today is a sure sign of poverty. He recalled that his father’s salary of ₦18,000 in the 1970s held far more value, and noted how a billion Naira then equated to over $2.8 billion. By contrast, he said, ₦1.4 billion today barely equals $1 million. He blamed the crisis on short-term thinking in government and a lack of data-driven planning. He noted that removing economic history and research from academic systems has left Nigerians unprepared for the future.
