Unhappy Children’s Day: Suleman Urges Government to Act After Oyo Kidnappings
On a day meant for celebrating our children, my heart is heavy. Nearly fifty children were recently abducted in Oyo State, some as young as two years old and others barely seventeen. The primary duty of government is to protect lives and properties. When it fails in this duty, it loses the trust of the people. Yet officials seem more concerned with phantom primary elections than rescuing these vulnerable young ones. Even as a long-time Arsenal fan, I cannot celebrate their recent success while these children remain in captivity. My plea goes beyond party lines. I have always called for good governance, regardless of who holds power. If our children are not safe, our families and the nation cannot stand. Unhappy Children’s Day to a government that has neglected its duty. May we be delivered from leaders who care more about power than the lives of our children.
