Falconets Begin Intensive Abuja Camp Ahead of 2026 U-20 Women’s World Cup

Falconets Begin Intensive Abuja Camp Ahead of 2026 U-20 Women’s World Cup

Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national team has gathered in Abuja for an intensive training camp ahead of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland. Twenty-eight players were invited, and sixteen are already on the field for high-intensity sessions led by coach Moses Aduku. The Falconets punched their ticket with a dominant qualifying run, including a 5-0 aggregate win over Rwanda, a narrow 3-2 victory against Senegal, and a 3-2 triumph over Malawi. They remain the only African side to appear in every edition since 2002. Historically strong performers, the team finished as runners-up in 2010 and 2014 and reached the 2024 Round of 16 in Colombia. The Falconets will face Spain, China PR, and Paraguay in Group F when the tournament kicks off on September 5, 2026.

With sixteen players already training under coach Moses Aduku in Abuja, what areas should the Falconets prioritize before the U-20 World Cup?

So, when you say areas, you mean technical skills over team strategy or vice versa?

It's tough to gauge any real improvement when just over half the invited squad are currently on the training field.

I no too see say intense sessions alone go fix the mistakes we made in defence during past qualifiers.

They could schedule local tune-up matches against league sides in Abuja to sharpen tactics and build match fitness before heading to Poland.
