Cult Rivalry in Oyo: Man Murdered on His Way Home, Friend Survives Brutal Attack

A 35-year-old man known as Idris (“Satio”) was killed on April 17 in Oyo State. His body was found along a bush path leading to Ologuneru Community, Apete-Akufo Road. Idris and his friend Sodiq were returning from a baby naming ceremony when three men stopped them around 7:30 p.m. in the Morubo area. Sodiq was slashed in the neck but managed to flee. Idris vanished and was later discovered with machete wounds to the head. Sodiq described how neighbours hid him and arranged medical care. Police confirmed Idris was linked to the Neo Black Movement and say rival cult members are the primary suspects. His family has claimed the body for an immediate Islamic burial, and investigations are ongoing.
