Prominent Katsina Farmer Killed by Bandits After N5m Ransom Payment

Alhaji Bala Sanin Kawo, a leading farmer from Dandume Local Government Area, was abducted on June 11, 2026, along with his employee, Barau Kwaro. On June 13, the kidnappers contacted his family demanding N5 million for his release. Relatives and associates raised and delivered the ransom to the forest hideout. After collecting the money, the bandits directed them to a location where they discovered Alhaji Kawo’s body. His death has left the community mourning a man who produced over 10,000 bags of crops annually and employed more than 5,000 people.
