Yoruba Group Slams Tinubu for Celebrating Primaries While Nigerians Suffer Terror Abductions
The Yoruba Union Ìgbìnmó Májékóbájé Ilé-Yorùbá accuses President Tinubu of prioritizing his 2027 re-election strategy over rescuing citizens held by terrorists and kidnappers. In a statement signed by the union’s convener and home director, they alleged that party officials orchestrated Tinubu’s primary victory in a hotel room. They cited the abduction of 39 students and seven teachers in Oyo State, including a slain mathematics teacher, and criticised the president’s lack of public sympathy. The group urged Nigerians to avoid voting along ethnic or religious lines and to support leaders who demonstrate compassion and competence. They condemned the failure to secure the release of more than 2,000 captives and warned against exchanging votes for short-term gifts.
