Pan-Yoruba Congress in Lagos Demands Self-Determination and Good Governance

We, representatives of indigenous communities across Western Nigeria, met in Ikeja on March 25–26, 2026 under the theme “Democracy and Good Governance.” Our coalition of 130 Pan-Yoruba, Itsekiri and community groups resolved that the 2027 presidency must rotate to the South and pledged to resist any military takeover. We call for teaching Yoruba in schools, arming Amotekun with military-grade equipment, and decentralising defence training into six regional academies. We also demand the return of key Western Region assets and urgent electricity reforms to revive industry. We condemn extremist violence and recent coup plots. We insist on constitutional recognition of Yoruba-Itsekiri self-determination, state police before 2027 elections, and full accountability for those behind terror and destabilisation.

Local groups should draft clear policy proposals and engage national parties early to turn the self-determination demand into concrete campaign platforms.
