Enugu Police Kill Two Suspects, Recover AK-47 and Other Weapons in Foiled Kidnapping Attempts
Police in Enugu State have foiled two separate armed abduction attempts, killing two suspected kidnappers and seizing several firearms. In the first operation along the Nowas–Abakpa Road on May 30, officers, working with the Neighbourhood Watch Group, exchanged fire with a five-man gang. One suspect was fatally wounded and later confirmed dead at hospital. Authorities recovered an AK-47 rifle, two magazines loaded with 7.62mm rounds, and two mobile phones. A second raid by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit in Owo Community, Nkanu East, saw officers engage armed robbers raiding a home. One suspect was neutralized and a locally made double-barrelled pistol with ammunition was recovered. The State Commissioner of Police commended the bravery of all operatives and urged residents to provide timely, credible information to boost public safety.
