Lagos Police Arrest Principal Suspect in N1bn Petrol Theft, Recover ₦300m in Assets

Lagos police have arrested a 38-year-old suspect linked to the alleged theft of ₦1.02 billion worth of Premium Motor Spirit from MEA Energy. After 12 days on the run in Delta State, surveillance and technical intelligence led officers to his location. He confessed to the crime and directed investigators to cash and properties valued at over ₦300 million, believed to be proceeds of the theft. Police say efforts are ongoing to apprehend a second suspect. The arrested individual will be charged to court once investigations conclude.
