Driver Sentenced to Death for Killing Former Boss and Wife in Abuja
A Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced Jonathan Marcus to death by hanging for the murder of his former employers, 80-year-old Adebola Ezekiel and his wife, Abiodun Ezekiel. The couple was found dead at their home in Apo Legislative Quarters on April 1, 2024. Police investigations led to Marcus’s arrest in Obajana, Kogi State, where he fled after committing the crime. He confessed to gaining entry around 11:00 p.m. on the night of the killings. He had worked for the couple as a driver but was dismissed after repeated disagreements. At trial, the prosecution presented evidence that convinced Hon. Justice M. S. Idris of the FCT High Court of Marcus’s guilt beyond reasonable doubt. The court handed down a death sentence by hanging. The FCT Police Command has urged residents to remain vigilant and assured them that all offenders will face justice.
