Kentucky’s $167M Powerball Winner Arrested Again for $12K Burglary
James Farthing, who won Kentucky’s record $167 million Powerball jackpot in April 2025, was arrested in Lexington for allegedly stealing $12,000 from a private home. He fled in a black Porsche but was stopped by police, who found cash and marijuana before taking him into custody. This marks Farthing’s third arrest since claiming the prize. A day after hitting the jackpot, he faced assault charges in Florida for punching a hotel guest and kicking an officer, according to press reports. In February, he was also charged with threatening a woman and forcing her to eat a marijuana-infused gummy. Farthing’s criminal history spans more than 35 years across several counties. Court records list offenses including assault, drug dealing, bribery, possession of stolen firearms and involvement in marijuana smuggling. He dropped out after tenth grade but later completed his education in prison. He is scheduled to appear in court in early April.
