Bolo Yeung: From Guangzhou Kung Fu Prodigy to the ‘Chinese Hercules’ of Martial Arts Cinema

Bolo Yeung, born Yang Sze in Guangzhou in 1946, grew up mastering kung fu and bodybuilding. He held the Mr. Hong Kong bodybuilding title for nearly a decade and earned the nickname “Chinese Hercules.” His on-screen breakthrough came opposite Bruce Lee in Enter the Dragon. He went on to appear in classics such as Bloodsport, Double Impact and Game of Death, playing both villain and heroic roles across five decades of martial arts cinema. Off-screen, Bolo is married with three children. His sons Danny and David train alongside him and carry on the family’s bodybuilding tradition. Today he is celebrated for his enduring friendship with Bruce Lee and his impact on action films. With an estimated net worth of around $2 million, Bolo Yeung remains a martial arts legend whose career continues to inspire fans worldwide.
