Oyo Government Pledges Safe Rescue of Students Abducted in Oriire School Attacks
The Oyo State Government has assured residents of Oriire Local Government Area that students and staff abducted during Friday’s attacks will be rescued safely. Deputy Governor Adebayo Lawal led a condolence visit to affected communities and warned that unverified figures circulating in the media are inaccurate. He said proper verification must take place before any numbers are confirmed. The government reported that security forces have neutralised three suspected kidnappers and are combing the bush with local hunters to secure the release of victims. One resident and a teacher died in the attack, and authorities have been urged to remain vigilant. Officials confirmed that detailed reports from the chairmen of Oriire and Surulere LGAs will be submitted by Monday. The administration pledges to strengthen security around forest fringes and calls on citizens to report suspicious activity immediately.
