Nine Abductees Flee Bandits’ Forest Camp While Guards Sleep, Rescued by Military
On July 15, troops of the 17 Brigade on foot patrol in Anguwan Doka, Faskari LGA, intercepted and rescued nine people—three women, four men and two children—who had escaped from a terrorists’ hideout in Katsina State. The victims said they were abducted along the Tsafe–Kuchere road in Zamfara State. They seized an opportunity to flee after their guards fell asleep and trekked through the forest until they met the patrol team. The military has placed them in protective custody and is working with local authorities to reunite them with their families. The theatre commander commended the troops’ vigilance and pledged to sustain intelligence-driven operations against criminal networks across the North West.
