35,705 South East Students Sign Up for 2027 Maths and Science Olympiad

Registration data released by an education advocate shows that a record 35,705 students have signed up for the 2027 South East Maths and Science Olympiad. This surge highlights growing interest in STEM across the region. The gender balance is impressive, with 19,136 girls and 16,569 boys registered. Participating numbers by state are Imo (9,756), Enugu (8,491), Abia (8,281), Ebonyi (6,919) and Anambra (2,258). For the first time, one registration covers both Maths and Science categories. Top performers will earn places at international contests in Portugal and Singapore next year. After the event, organisers will rank states by average performance to assess education quality and encourage healthy competition. Entry is free and open to every eligible student in the South East.
