Sapele LG Chairman Freed After 10-Day Kidnap Ordeal

The Chairman of Sapele Local Government Area in Delta State, Bright Abeke, has regained his freedom. He was released ten days after gunmen abducted him at Debrofred Hotel along Owumi Road on April 11, 2026. Witnesses say the kidnappers arrived in a Range Rover and opened fire to scatter onlookers. A vigilante guard named Ufuoma and another person sustained gunshot wounds during the attack. As of now, details of his release remain unclear, including whether a ransom was paid. No group has claimed responsibility for the abduction.
