Over 600 Lagos Workers Access Free HIV Testing as LSACA Urges Regular Screening

Over 600 Lagos Workers Access Free HIV Testing as LSACA Urges Regular Screening

The Lagos State AIDS Control Agency called on workers to prioritise routine HIV testing and reject stigma during the Workers’ Day celebration at Onikan Stadium. Dr Folakemi Animashaun described workers as “the engine of Lagos” and linked public health challenges like HIV to broader socio-economic conditions under the theme “Insecurity, Poverty – Bane of Decent Work.” She revealed that more than 600 staff benefited from free HIV testing and counselling at the event and urged employers to build inclusive workplaces that support staff wellbeing. Animashaun encouraged personal responsibility for health and reminded residents that free, confidential testing is available at government facilities or via LSACA’s toll-free lines.

Employers could set up monthly in-house testing schedules and partner with LSACA to provide private, stigma-free screening directly on site.
