Seven Survive Late-Night Trailer Crash on Ibadan–Lagos Expressway
Around 10:17 p.m. on Monday, April 20, a black CNHTC HOWO truck loaded with iron rods and a white Sinotruck collided at the Ogunmakin axis of the Ibadan–Lagos Expressway. Traffic on the “Ibadan–Lagos” carriageway was thrown into disarray. The FRSC attributes the crash to speeding and loss of control. All seven adult males onboard escaped with no fatalities. Three injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere on Monday night. Two others trapped in the wreckage were rescued early Tuesday and also admitted there for treatment. Both trucks remain wedged together, blocking one lane. Vehicles bound for Lagos are diverted at Alapako Bridge onto the opposite carriageway. An emergency corridor has been opened to ease the gridlock. Motorists are urged to follow officer instructions, exercise patience, and consider alternative routes until the road is fully cleared.
