The United States military has reportedly established a shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz, allowing oil tankers to move through the strategic waterway despite the conflict with Iran. According to US officials cited by international media, 15 to 20 tankers are using a southern channel along Oman’s coast each day. The route is said to be carrying about 10 million barrels of oil daily, roughly half the volume that moved through the strait before the disruption. The officials said the military is helping empty tankers enter the Gulf, load oil in countries including the UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait, and return through the channel. Iran maintains that shipping remains restricted, while recent vessel-tracking reports indicate that traffic is still far below normal levels. The Strait of Hormuz is a major global energy route, so any sustained reopening could reduce pressure on oil and gas supplies worldwide.
