Anglican Diocese Suspends Anambra Priest for Staging Fake Miracles
The Diocese of the Niger has suspended Reverend Ifunanya Maduka of St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Nteje for six months without pay. He was accused of organising manipulated prophecies and paying participants to fake miracles. A letter dated April 27, 2026, and signed by the Bishop on the Niger, Rt. Rev. Dr. Owen Nwokolo, states that Rev. Maduka admitted his role when confronted with evidence. His actions were described as a serious breach of Christian doctrine and Anglican discipline. The suspension is effective immediately. Rev. Maduka must hand over all church properties and vacate the premises within four days. A disciplinary panel will now investigate and decide on further action. The diocese warned that such conduct brings dishonour to the name of Christ, grieves the Holy Spirit, and undermines public trust in the Church.
