Governor Abiodun Pledges ₦20 Million to ‘Cycling for Autism’ Campaign

Governor Abiodun Pledges ₦20 Million to ‘Cycling for Autism’ Campaign

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has donated twenty million naira to support the “Cycling for Autism” initiative in honour of World Autism Awareness Day. He stressed that autism is not a disease but a unique condition that demands understanding, patience and proper care. The governor described children with autism as gifted individuals whose talents can flourish with the right support. Abiodun praised 16-year-old autism advocate Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke for setting a Guinness World Record in 2025 by creating the world’s largest art canvas in Abuja. He also commended the young artist’s parents for nurturing his abilities and inspiring other families. The “Cycling for Autism” team is touring multiple states to raise awareness in communities, schools and religious centres. Supported by the Cycling Federation of Nigeria, the campaign aims to train at least one thousand autism caregivers nationwide over a 600-kilometre route.
