Goodluck Jonathan to Seek PDP Nomination for 2027 Presidency

Former President Goodluck Jonathan plans to run for the 2027 presidency on the Peoples Democratic Party ticket. A senior team member says he chose the PDP after extensive deliberations on his chances of returning to power and tackling growing hardship and poverty. Support groups are already mobilizing to raise the ₦100 million nomination fee before the submission deadline. Groups such as the Goodluckan Movement, Coalition for Jonathan, the Goodies Movement and The New Nigeria are competing to secure his form. The PDP has confirmed Jonathan completed its online registration earlier this year. He has also approached the Federal High Court in Abuja to challenge claims that he is ineligible after serving two terms. The court’s ruling will determine his ability to contest in 2027.
