UniAbuja Law Student Remanded in Kuje Over Alleged Rape of 100-Level Medical Student
A 40-year-old law student at the University of Abuja, Monday Goodluck, was remanded at Kuje Correctional Facility by the FCT High Court. He faces a two-count charge of rape and causing physical injury. Prosecution counsel told the court Goodluck allegedly lured a 100-level Medicine and Surgery student to his home on March 25 around 11pm under the pretext of helping with her NELFUND application. He is accused of sexually assaulting her and inserting fingers into her mouth to prevent her from screaming. The offences fall under Sections 1(1), 1(2) and 2(1) of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act, 2015. Goodluck pleaded not guilty. Justice M.S. Idris refused his oral bail application, directed a written bail filing, and adjourned the case to June 9 for further hearing.
