1 / 6

Ten African teams made history by qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. Nine advanced from the group stage, and now Egypt and Morocco stand alone in the Round of 16. Egypt secured its first-ever World Cup knockout win on penalties against Australia in Dallas. Mohamed Salah led the charge, and the Pharaohs will face defending champions Argentina in Atlanta on July 7. Morocco impressed from the start under coach Mohamed Ouahbi. After topping a group that included Brazil, Scotland and Haiti, the Atlas Lions beat the Netherlands on penalties. They now meet Canada in Houston on July 5, riding a 34-match unbeaten streak in regular time.
