Government Launches 40 Coastal Road Guards with GPS-Tracked Motorcycles

Government Launches 40 Coastal Road Guards with GPS-Tracked Motorcycles — 1 of 4
1 / 4

The Federal Government has inaugurated 40 Coastal Road Guards to protect the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. Each guard was fully profiled, guarantors recorded, and motorcycles fitted with GPS trackers to ensure they are used only for official duties. Trained by the Nigeria Police Force, the guards received helmets, walkie-talkies, flashlights and other equipment. They will monitor the highway day and night to curb vandalism of manhole covers and road signs, prevent illegal U-turns, discourage indiscriminate parking of trailers and trucks, stop illegal grazing, street trading and refuse dumping. The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State urged the team to uphold discipline and professionalism, warning of accountability for any misconduct. Senior officers praised the initiative for creating employment and urged Nigerians to join in protecting public infrastructure.
