New Poll: Majority of Israelis Say Iran Benefited Most from Mideast War
A recent survey by Hebrew University and the Agam Institute found that over 92% of 3,644 Israelis believe Iran emerged stronger from the Middle East conflict and its subsequent deal with the United States. More than 82% of respondents said Israel’s long-term security was weakened, and even within Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s right-wing base, 93% felt Iran “won” or gained more from the fighting. Opposition to the US-Iran agreement was widespread, with 63% against and just 12% in support. Confidence in Israel’s leadership also fell: 72.5% doubted Netanyahu’s military claims and his approval rating dropped from 40.5% in March to 29.4% in June. Despite these concerns, nearly half of those surveyed (48%) backed renewed major military action against Hezbollah in Lebanon. Negotiations to make the temporary Iran-US agreement permanent were set to resume in Switzerland, even as a new ceasefire held in southern Lebanon.
