Federal High Court Orders DSS to Investigate Leak of Coup Plot Trial Videos
The Federal High Court in Abuja has directed the Department of State Services to probe allegations that activist VeryDarkMan posted videos from the ongoing coup plot trial against President Tinubu on social media. Justice Joyce Abdulmalik also ordered an inquiry into any evidence online that may breach a previous witnesses’ protection order. The judge insisted the DSS complete its investigation while the trial continues. During proceedings, lead prosecutor Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, told the court he discovered parts of the evidence he tendered had been shared by VeryDarkMan. The six defence lawyers denied involvement and requested a formal affidavit before responding. The court heard bail applications and a trial-within-a-trial on the voluntariness of defendants’ statements. Dates were set for defence presentations in late June and early July, with a ruling on bail scheduled for July 20.
