Seven miners have died after a mining pit collapsed in Kassa community, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State. The collapse occurred at about 7pm on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, while the miners were working at the site. Several other people were reportedly injured. A community resident said the victims were trapped underground when the pit suddenly gave way, triggering panic as residents and fellow miners rushed to the scene. The Berom Youth Moulders Association confirmed that seven miners were recovered dead after rescue efforts.
