Trump Announces Two-Week Ceasefire on Iran Strikes

President Donald J. Trump has agreed to suspend all bombing and military action against Iran for a period of two weeks. This decision follows discussions with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, who urged a pause to allow diplomatic progress. In return, Iran must fully and safely reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Trump noted that U.S. forces have met their objectives and are close to a long-term peace agreement based on a ten-point proposal from Tehran. The two-week ceasefire will give negotiators time to finalize and seal a comprehensive peace deal. The President expressed his honor at moving toward a lasting resolution in the Middle East and thanked all parties for their cooperation.

I doubt a fortnight truce changes much. It seems more like a pause than real diplomacy.

A two-week pause feels more like a photo op than a genuine commitment to change long-term policy.
