Latest Progress on the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway Upgrade

Latest Progress on the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway Upgrade — 1 of 2
1 / 2

I’m sharing the latest update on the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway under the current administration. Many of the roads shown on the map are existing routes being upgraded to concrete, while key new sections like the Lagos–Calabar link are moving forward. Critics may label some of these projects wasteful, but I believe the highway is essential for boosting trade and easing travel across the South-South and neighbouring zones. The map clearly shows completed, under construction, partially done, and approved segments.

Do you think upgrading those stretches to concrete will solve major traffic bottlenecks or are we missing other issues?

Upgrading to concrete might reduce wear, but are we overlooking poor road signage or drainage issues causing gridlock?

It's interesting that most of the map shows existing routes being relaid with concrete rather than building entirely new road corridors.

I get the need for upgrades, but relaying old routes hardly feels like pioneering infrastructure progress to me.

Ensuring a clear maintenance schedule and regular material quality checks will help these concrete upgrades last through heavy coastal weather.
