All 2026 World Cup Hosts Knocked Out Before Quarter-Finals

All 2026 World Cup Hosts Knocked Out Before Quarter-Finals

The United States, Mexico and Canada have all exited the 2026 FIFA World Cup without reaching the quarter-finals. Canada were first to fall after a 3-0 defeat by Morocco, with two goals from Azzedine Ounahi and another from Soufiane Rahimi. Mexico also bowed out in a tight 3-2 loss to England, despite a spirited performance even after England went down to ten men. The US were the last host nation to leave, suffering a heavy 4-1 defeat by Belgium in the Round of 16. This edition is historic as the first World Cup hosted by three nations and expanded to 48 teams. Although fans welcomed the tournament across North America, none of the co-hosts managed a deep run, leaving the rest to vie for the trophy.

It's odd that North America, despite home advantage and crowd support, failed to send any team into the last eight.

National teams need to invest more in youth development and tactical consistency before relying on home-ground advantage.
