Taraba Chief Judge Backs Tinubu’s Plan for State Police to Boost Local Security
Justice Joel Agya, Chief Judge of Taraba, has praised President Bola Tinubu’s proposal to establish state police forces. He spoke at the launch of the Justice Joel Agya Bar Centre Project during Law Week organised by the Wukari branch of the NBA. Agya argued that recruiting officers from local communities will strengthen law enforcement and improve public safety. He stressed that any new state police body must operate strictly within legal boundaries. NBA Wukari branch Chairman Hassan Saubana also urged the judiciary to deploy more officers to courts in southern Taraba. He highlighted that understaffing hampers the delivery of justice and confirmed that work on the new NBA secretariat will begin once funding is secured.
