Six ISWAP Bomb-Makers Killed in Premature IED Blast in Borno
At least six suspected ISWAP militants, including bomb expert Abu Umar, died when an improvised explosive device detonated prematurely in Marte Local Government Area of Borno State. Security sources say the blast occurred around 7:00 a.m. at Jubilaram as the insurgents were assembling explosives. Three other members were critically injured and the assembly point was destroyed. Intelligence reports indicate the facility, used as an IED production hub along the Marte–Kerenoa–Wulgo corridor, may be inoperative after the explosion. The loss of experienced bomb-makers is expected to disrupt ISWAP’s attack capabilities. Military authorities are considering follow-up air and ground operations to capitalize on the setback and further degrade the group’s activities in the region.
