Religious Sisters of Charity Partner with AMPEF to Combat Human Trafficking

Religious Sisters of Charity Partner with AMPEF to Combat Human Trafficking — 1 of 3
1 / 3

By Naomi Onome The Religious Sisters of Charity have renewed their commitment to end human trafficking in Nigeria. They are seeking stronger partnerships with the Ambassadors of Peace and Enlightenment Foundation (AMPEF), government agencies and civil society groups. Their specialised Human Trafficking Unit focuses on raising awareness, rescuing victims and supporting their rehabilitation. Sisters work with law enforcement and shelters to trace families, offer vocational training and reintegrate survivors into communities. The Sisters have intensified grassroots sensitisation in schools, churches and rural areas. They plan to expand their outreach on social media to warn young people against false promises of high-paying jobs abroad. AMPEF President Comrade Prince Saviour Iche welcomed the collaboration. He highlighted poverty and unemployment as key drivers of trafficking and urged government action on job creation. Both organisations call for sustained partnership to protect vulnerable Nigerians and uphold human dignity.
