Civil Society Group Alleges Police Complicity in Lagos Land Scam

Civil Society Group Alleges Police Complicity in Lagos Land Scam

A leading civil society coalition has accused the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Abuja of hijacking and stonewalling a land racketeering case tied to high-profile individuals in Lagos State. More than two years after a prima facie case on conspiracy, forcible entry, malicious damage and breach of peace was established, the FCID is said to have taken over the file and stalled all efforts to secure justice for the victim. The coalition warned that this inaction is deterring investors and denying young people the employment opportunities such ventures would create. It questioned the sincerity of the ongoing anti-corruption drive when police elements appear to be shielding criminal activities. The group has called on the President to intervene and given the FCID Abuja seven days to address the matter or face appropriate action.

Claims by any civil society group shouldn't automatically imply police guilt without examining possible political rivalries muddying the narrative.
