Police, Navy Hunt for 15 Passengers Abducted on Calabar–Oron Waterway

Security forces in Cross River and Akwa Ibom states have launched joint operations to rescue 15 passengers kidnapped on the Calabar–Oron ferry last Friday. The Cross River Police Command said the victims were seized by gunmen who ambushed the boat en route from Calabar to Oron. A naval officer confirmed the attack and that the abductees have been taken to an unknown location. ASP Sunday Eitokpah, the command’s spokesperson, stated that police and naval units are conducting coordinated search-and-rescue and tactical missions. Their priority is the safe recovery of the passengers and the arrest of those responsible.
