Police Service Commission Dismisses Four, Demotes Ten Over Misconduct
The Police Service Commission dismissed four senior officers over gross misconduct and unprofessional behaviour at its plenary meeting in Abuja. It also sanctioned 31 others for various infractions. Ten officers were demoted across ranks. Three Superintendents of Police fell to Deputy Superintendent, two Deputy Superintendents to Assistant Superintendent, and five Assistant Superintendents to Inspector. Two officers were compulsorily retired. Additional sanctions included severe reprimands for ten officers, five regular reprimands, warning letters for three, and a letter of advice for one. Seven officers were cleared of wrongdoing. The PSC Chairman emphasised the Commission’s commitment to discipline, accountability, and boosting public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
