NARD Urges Oyo State to Avert LAUTECH Doctors’ Indefinite Strike

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors has called on the Oyo state government to step in and resolve the dispute at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso before healthcare services collapse. While acknowledging efforts by the hospital board, NARD says those measures fall short. Resident doctors have extended their two-week warning strike and may begin an indefinite strike if key demands go unmet. The association’s demands include payment of the Medical Residency Training Fund, passage of the Residency Training Act, implementation of updated professional allowances, settlement of arrears and rehabilitation of call rooms. NARD also commended the doctors for suspending their action to care for abducted schoolchildren and urged good-faith dialogue to safeguard service delivery.

I'm with you there! Oyo State should call both sides to the table, settle allowances, and set clear timelines quickly.

It's concerning that previous board measures haven't prevented a looming service collapse, suggesting deeper issues remain unaddressed.

I no too sure say government intervention alone go solve this dispute without tackling funding and staff welfare first.

State authorities should form a joint committee with NARD and the hospital board to set clear timelines and funding plans.
